Welcome to SolarForSchools.ca, your online source for information about the BC Solar For Schools Project.
The BC Solar For Schools Project is a pilot program developed to teach future generations about the potential of clean, solar energy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the threat of global climate change.
This web site features real-life examples of how solar power can reduce our dependancy on fossil fuel-based energy sources. For each school participating in the BC Solar For Schools Project, you will find a detailed system overview, installation photos, as well as dynamic data regarding environmental conditions and current solar energy generation.
If you have any questions or comments about the BC Solar For Schools Project or this web site, we invite you to contact us. Your feedback will help us ensure that the pilot program is a success.
"An investment in solar energy is an investment in the future, because using more alternative energy means cleaner air and healthy children. This project will use solar energy to augment existing power systems and help reduce energy costs at these schools. It is a model for schools across the province and builds on British Columbia's commitment to become a world leader in sustainable energy development."
Honourable Richard Neufeld, Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources
